My thoughts on the matter are: if it's clear that one source is superior to another, the lower quality source need not be archived. I am sure there will be shows for which we have multiple sources, all of which are excellent. In such cases it might make sense to archive all the sources.

Thoughts?

How about this? Each seed has a link to a poll when there are more than 1 source to choose from. Users can download tracks from all the sources available, compare, and then vote on which is the superior sounding seed so future users won't have to.

I agree with your thoughts that if there are more than 1 excellent seed available, all of them are archived.

Let me know what you think.

Immediately after submitting that I noticed the "Average User Rating" scale. That may accomplish what I was after. Sorry for the WOB and thanks for the response Jon.

I'm pretty excited about this project!

As a taper I find the idea of someone deciding what is the Best source a bad idea. It is then leaving up to those who have deemed their ears better. There is a large mis understanding of what the best source is. Many different sources means those who prefer specific mics and or rig combo's have the access to those mics. Not all mics/Rigs sound best for every venue and or band. But using a "Best Source" mentality you will ultimately be denying some very fine music to be spread and archived. For instance, if there is both SBD and AUD sources for a given show. The majority will choose the SBD as they think it's best. I for one find the majority of SBD tapes to be very dry and unbalanced in the mix. But if a fine AUD source is not made available simply because a few people decided for everyone else what the deem "Best". I know no one is thinking this way on purpose. I just feel that by enetring into this debate you will ultimately hurt that in which you wish to happen with this project. This may also be a sticking point with bands. If you are not allowing all know sources to have the opprotunity to be uploaded you may get flack from the bands.
Just a thought.
I do hope this project does well though It's a great idea.
